The violence of pornography
by Andrew Lansdown
copies
Murder is not only the most extreme but also the least likely violence to arise from the use of pornography. There are at least eleven other forms of violence that arise from the use of pornography. "I identified these eleven categories of violence recently," writes Andrew Lnasdown, "while reading the stories of men and women who testified before the Attorney General?s Commission on Pornography in the United States."

Media porn and violence: can they be harmful?
from the Report of the Joint Select Committee on Video Material to the Australian Commonwealth Parliament
copies
This paper is abridged from the Report of the Joint Select Committee on Video Material to the Australian Commonwealth Parliament, 1988, Chapter 13 on the Likely Effects of Video Material. The Committee surveyed the very large number of research studies relating to the effects of the visual media on viewers. There was clear evidence that excessive exposure to violent or pornographic material can have deleterious effects upon some people, particularly children.

The victims of pornography
from Tom Minnery and the US Attorney General's Commission on Pornography
copies
The US Attorney General's Commission on Pornography heard tragic testimony during its six public hearings about the effects of pornography on its victims. Some examples of that testimony, published in the book Pornography: a Human Tragedy edited by Tom Minnery, are reproduced in this paper. In the words of one victim: "It has taken me close to 20 years to undo what was done to me by pornography and prostitution."

Pornography leads to tragedies
by Dr John Court, BA, PhD, FBPsS, MAPsS
copies
If the dissemination of pornography is linked with the incidence of sex crimes, there should be individual cases where this link is evident. And indeed there are numerous examples of police files and court records showing clear links between pornography and sex crimes. This paper is largely based on an extract from Pornography and the Harm Condition - a response to the UK Williams Committee Report on Obscenity and Film Censorship - by Dr John Court, BA, PhD.

Pornography and rape: evidence of a link
adapted by Dr David Phillips, BSc, PhD, ThA from a lecture by Dr John Court, BA, PhD, FBPsS, MAPsS
copies
Dr John Court, BA, PhD, is known throughout the world for his careful research into the effects of pornography on sex crimes. This paper is a shortened lecture he gave on the subject. He concludes (in part): "Slowly, evidence has been accumulating from various sources which, when brought together, confirms my belief that the truly progressive view in this area recognises harmful potential in pornography comparable to TV violence."
